Firefighter/Paramedic

The City of Presque Isle currently hiring for one (1) new Firefighter/Paramedic. This is an entry level Firefighting position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic motivated professional to become a valued member of an innovative, progressive, fire department. Presque Isle Fire Department serves approximately 75 square miles, with a population of roughly 9,800 night time residence increasing to roughly 20,000 day time population, successful candidates primary function will be providing EMS care through 911 responses, fire suppression, airport firefighting, fire prevention, life safety inspection, Haz-Mat Decon While working a 24 / 48 shift schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Must posses a valid Maine driver's license.
  • Firefighter II Preferred.
  • Current Maine Paramedic License or be currently enrolled in a Paramedic program with a completion date of 12 months.

Full Time Fire Chief

The Town of Bridgton has an opening for a full-time Fire Chief with a professional background who has demonstrated success in leading a fire department. The current Chief is retiring effective May 1st. Applicants must have experience in managing a workforce of approximately 30-40 volunteer firefighters, four (4) fire stations and a minimum of five years management level experience in a similar size volunteer department; demonstrate knowledge of fire operations and management procedures; instructor training; Firefighter II or higher; National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) certification; experience with municipal budgeting, community relations, staffing, planning and working with other Town Departments.

New Gloucester

Fire and Rescue Department Chief

The Town of New Gloucester, Maine (pop. 5700) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Fire and Rescue Chief. The Town of New Gloucester is located between Portland and Auburn/Lewiston, Maine. The Department covers approximately 42 square miles from a single station. The Department is a full-service fire/rescue and EMS organization that has an average of 40 on-call fire/EMS personnel; the Fire and Rescue Chief is the only full-time employee. The department responds to more than 500 EMS and fore calls per year. The current annual operating budget of the Fire Department is approximately $380,000.

Candidates must have strong leadership and managerial skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong work ethic, integrity, proven leadership abilities, adaptability and creativity are essential. New Gloucester is looking for a collaborator with problem solving skills and team building; planning and directing the work activities and operations of the department. The successful candidate may be required to drive emergency apparatus and assist as an EMS provider.

At least an Associate's Degree from an accredited university or college is preferred, 7-10 years of municipal fire/rescue experience and at least 5 years of experience as a chief officer in a comparable or larger organization. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of EMT-Advanced license. Candidates must have demonstrated experience and skill within the following critical areas: budgeting, crafting collaborative interagency relationships, pacing change, fireground management, incident command and emergency management.

We respond to over 2,500 calls for service annually providing advanced life support EMS treatment & transport as well as full-service fire suppression, rescue and education services to the citizens and visitors to our community. We are currently accepting applications for an immediate opening in a Firefighter/Paramedic position.

Paramedic Firefighters & Firefighter/EMTs
Our full-time staff is covered under a collective bargaining agreement which includes a competitive wage rate and an excellent benefits package including a 25 year, no age limit, retirement plan. Minimum requirements include: HS diploma or GED equivalent; Interior Structural Firefighter Certification or equivalent - Firefighter I & II preferred; completion of State certified AVOC/EVOC class preferred; EMT-B license (EMT-P preferred).
